“There are many ways to believe; one can be devoted to nothingness and still find meaning in it.”

Pol Agustí (Barcelona, 1985) is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in Mexico. Trained in Industrial Design and Art Direction, he spent over a decade working as a production designer for international brands while developing a parallel practice in photography. His current work brings together sculpture, furniture and design through a deeply intuitive and material approach.

Working in close collaboration with local artisans in rural Mexico, Agustí creates ceramic pieces without moulds, a potter’s wheel or conventional industrial processes. His practice is grounded in direct experimentation with clay, fire and the surrounding environment, embracing irregularity, chance and the beauty of imperfection. Using only a handful of simple tools and traditional techniques, he develops each piece by hand, allowing its final form to emerge organically through the making process.

His ceramic furniture and sculptural objects occupy an intriguing space between the ancestral and the futuristic. Tables, chairs, lamps and speakers take on the appearance of archaeological artefacts, primitive totems or fragments of an imagined extraterrestrial civilisation. His forms draw simultaneously on pre-Hispanic cultures, science fiction, spirituality and the natural world, creating objects that feel both ancient and strangely contemporary.

At the heart of Pol’s practice is an exploration of memory, ritual and human connection. His objects often function as intimate vessels or contemporary altars, carrying traces of personal experience while evoking much older forms of offering, mourning and remembrance. Balancing the raw and the refined, the spiritual and the material, his work celebrates imperfection as a source of beauty and the act of making as a form of connection.
