Aurélie Gravas is a French painter living and working in Brussels. Painting primarily with pigments, her work balances softness with boldness, creating playful yet enigmatic works. 

 

Her practice explores the space between figuration and abstraction, where faces, figures, flowers, objects and landscapes emerge, dissolve and transform.
The forms created often hover between recognition and ambiguity—
a face may become a flower, a landscape may dissolve into colour, and familiar shapes take on unexpected identities.


Her gestures evoke simultaneously movement and stillness, with layers, fragments, bold contours and shifting forms that are intriguing and invite the viewer to pause, look, question and ultimately complete the image for themselves.
