Magnus Reid (b. 1989, Perth, Western Australia) is a self-taught painter based in Mallorca whose practice is driven by an intuitive exploration of freedom, nature and spirituality. Working with a direct and expressive visual language, he creates richly textured paintings that balance spontaneity with emotional depth.

Rooted in a process of experimentation, Reid’s work embraces the physicality of paint and the possibilities of gesture, allowing imagery and meaning to emerge organically through the act of making. His compositions often evoke natural forces, symbolic forms and moments of quiet reflection, reflecting an ongoing interest in the connections between the inner and outer worlds.

Characterised by a raw yet playful sensibility, Reid’s paintings invite viewers into contemplative spaces where instinct, imagination and materiality converge. Through this approach, he develops a body of work that is both deeply personal and universally resonant, exploring themes of presence, transformation and our relationship with the natural world.
