Lauren Doughty is a London-based artist and illustrator working across drawing, layered mark-making and print. Her work explores imagined landscapes that sit between abstraction and representation, where fragments of the natural world are transformed through colour, texture and repetition.

Doughty creates imagined landscapes that hover between abstraction and representation drawing inspiration from the natural world, art history, poetry and folklore. Small observations like a change in light, the colour of a leaf or a particular mood become starting points for compositions shaped by repetition, chance and personal symbolism.

For Lauren, drawing is a meditative process and a way of slowing down and paying attention. Her layered surfaces reveal traces of what came before, inviting the viewer to look closely and discover connections rather than offering an immediate or fixed reading.

The artist has exhibited internationally, including at Big Love Records, Tokyo; Blue Shop Cottage, London; Etesian Gallery, Menorca; and Atlas House, Ipswich. She has also undertaken residencies at Jan Van Eyck Academie, Hawkwood College and Casa Balandra, Mallorca.
